URBAN ALGAE was founded by Alexis Chatain to give microalgae an immense role in urban re-vegetation. Microalgae’s photosynthetic abilities and natural potential make them biotechnology assets in finding solutions to great nutrition issues to come.
URBAN ALGAE’s mission is to provide every actor in the private and public sectors with solutions to bring value to non-exploited urban surfaces. The company sells, installs and sometimes manages the production of urban algofarms.
ORIGINAL CREATION
A REAL ECO-FRIENDLY PROJECT
The project was set up along with close collaboration of committed actors (companies, industries, universities, investors and the public sector) all answering to responsible mindset standards.
URBAN ALGAE promotes the know-how of algoculture among our clients so that they can fully operate their production tools, and among the younger generations, by sharing our passion with them in agriculture schools and universities.
It is now URBAN ALGAE’s responsibility to promote even wider our projects at the European scale.

USING CO2 AS A RESOURCE
One type of algofarm project can be about partial or total CO2 capture and waste usage.
- When financing our eco-friendly project, our investistors and clients drop their carbon footprint, which helps UP ALGAE’s urban microalgae grow more efficiently!
- Our products and production method have been designed to limit resources waste to a maximum level: for example, the water consumption is completely reduced and monitored.
- Our production installations are completely controled, limiting any risks of contaminations.
With its products brand UP ALGAE, URBAN ALGAE has demonstrated it is possible to install, produce and distribute high-end, innovative and natural food-supplements.
